Wisconsin BioAg Gateway |
|
| The City of Madison, the State of Wisconsin, and a team of public and private professionals have initiated a program to build Wisconsin's first BioAgricultural Plant Manufacturing and R&D Campus inside Madison's World Dairy Center. This project is called the Wisconsin Bio-Ag Gateway. Through the facilities that will be available at this world-class bioag campus, cutting edge technologies in agriculture, biotechnology and manufacturing will be brought together to produce and commercialize agriculture products and services. The campus as currently planned will have three components and be developed in phases:
1. A Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Incubator - Midwest BIOLINK and Controlled Agriculture Manufacturing Systems (click here for more on Midwest BIOLINK and Controlled Agriculture Manufacturing Systems). 2. A business park that will serve both as a location for businesses growing out of the incubator/greenhouse and for attracting related businesses that will contribute to the campus (click here for artist rendering of campus). 3. A discovery center and agricultural showcase for field testing, education and training. The City of Madison has secured 27 acres for the Campus, the Madison Development Corporation and Orbitec/Planet LLC have finished the business plan and feasibility study, and phase I financing and construction are almost complete. Construction is anticipated to start in 2008. |
